Our Story
A letter from Humane Network's founders
Soon after we met in 2002, while working at Best Friends Animal Society, we started looking ahead and wondering how we could make the biggest difference for homeless dogs and cats. Our commitment to the cause led us to take on a challenge when a new leadership team was needed to bring Nevada Humane Society (NHS) in Reno, Nevada out of a troubled past. We put our experience in the field and business expertise to work and transformed NHS into a model organization. We led the successful effort of making the entire community of Washoe County, Nevada into one the country’s early no-kill communities and sustained that success.

We founded Humane Network in 2007. By 2013, we were getting an overwhelming number of requests from across the country to learn about how we created the lifesaving and organizational successes at NHS and in Washoe County and made the decision to provide consulting services on a full-time basis.

It is an honor and privilege to work with so many other individuals, organizations, and communities that are driven by the same dream to save more lives and create effective sustainable organizations.
